Sketching for Landscape Design
If you’re stepping into the world of landscape design, sketching is one very necessary skill. It’s more than just putting pencil to paper. It’s one of the quickest, clearest ways to visualize your ideas and share them with clients, teammates, or anyone who needs to “see” what is in your head. That’s exactly what this upcoming landscape design workshop is all about!
The "Sketching for Landscape Design" class will be online this winter and offered through Longwood Gardens. It aims to help designers gain confidence in their drawing abilities. This class takes a relaxed, “what do you see around you?” approach, guiding the students through sketching natural elements like trees, shrubs, native plants, and the textures that bring landscapes to life. Students also learn basic landscape drawing/drafting techniques. Throughout the session, the students get plenty of practice with line, tone, and color. They will experiment with different line styles, learn how to translate simple drawing methods, and discover how to use sketching to clearly communicate their design intent.
It's a fun class!
